Offered here is a 250 g container of aluminum oxide (Al

O
3
) granules.
The innumerable sharp projections of each granule increases the surface area on  which vapor bubbles can form.  This promotes a gentle stream of bubbles rising to the surface.
Highly effective in controlling distillation of liquids with low boiling points. Good in all boiling operations, except those with strong alkalis, or concentrated sulfuric acid.
Boiling stones should be used sparingly!
1-5 in a test tube or 10-15 in a distillation flask.
