Rosenthal Porcelain Vase Vintage Raymond Peynet The Lovers Hand Painted MCM Mid Century Modern
Condition:   Vintage 1960s hand painted vase in extremely well cared for condition, no chips or crazing, three tiny surface scratches near the bottom (so small they don't appear in photos) -- other than that paint and finish are like a new piece, not one that is over 50 years old
Beautiful and rare Rosenthal vase from the 1960s featuring artist Raymond Peynet's "The Lovers"
The vase is created of Rosenthal porcelain and is hand painted
Peynet created The Lovers in 1942
In the 1960s and 70s The Lovers were featured on jewelry pieces
In the 1950s and 60s latex foam dolls of the Peynet lovers and were a great success
The characters have endured over the years appearing on Couleuvre in the 1950s and Rosenthal in the 1960s
The Lovers have been so loved that they have been featured on stamps in France and on Champagne bottles
This vase has the unique modernist look of MCM and appears to never have been used other than for display -- the interior is shiny and clean
The front depicts the Lovers sitting on a park bench with two cupids, bluebirds  -- a romantic setting
The back of the vase features the two cupids sitting on the park bench
This would be a fabulous gift for Valentine's Day, an engagement, wedding or for any fan of MCM design
After extensive research, we were only able to find one other like this, not in the US, priced close to 0 -- this is truly a special piece!
