Vintage GLASBAKE Penicillin Culture Bottle

Description

Glasbake was produced from 1917 until 1951, so this penicillin culture bottle has to be at least 71 years old.  In the 1930s and 1940s, penicillin was made by fungal fermentation in flasks or bottles such as this.  Once penicillin was available via chemical synthesis, these bottles were no longer used.
This rare and unusual item measures 10.25" x 4.75" x 2.12" and eighs about  pounds.
